Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician

GRX Holdings, LLC is a fast-growing, family-oriented group of independent pharmacies. Medicap Pharmacy, located at 3600 University Blvd. in Ames, Iowa, is seeking a full-time, highly motivated, efficient, and adaptable Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician.

Our Ames location provides non-sterile compounding services for patients and prescribers while also supporting pharmacies throughout the OneroRx network. As part of GRX Holdings’ growing compounding program, our team helps expand access to customized medications across a national footprint.

We are looking for a candidate who enjoys working as part of a team, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in providing accurate, high-quality, and timely patient care.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Prepare non-sterile compounded medications according to prescriptions, established formulations, policies, and procedures
• Assist with the preparation of a variety of non-sterile dosage forms, including capsules, liquids, creams, ointments, and other customized preparations
• Accurately complete compounding documentation and utilize pharmacy systems to support prescription processing and workflow
• Follow established quality assurance procedures and pharmacist verification processes
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant compounding environment
• Assist with inventory management of medications, chemicals, supplies, and compounding materials
• Properly use, clean, and maintain compounding equipment
• Follow applicable USP standards, Iowa Board of Pharmacy requirements, accreditation standards, and company policies and procedures
• Work collaboratively with pharmacists, technicians, and other team members to support efficient pharmacy operations and excellent patient service
• Perform other pharmacy and compounding-related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills  

• Pharmacy technician registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as required
• National pharmacy technician certification preferred, but not required
• Previous non-sterile compounding experience preferred, but not required
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to learn and consistently follow established policies, procedures, and compounding standards
• Basic knowledge of pharmacy calculations and medical terminology preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements associated with pharmacy compounding
